An assisted communication interface

Duration: One semester
Faculty supervisor: Dr. Fleming Seay, Experience Design Group, Dell
Course: Interaction Design
Position: Interface/Interaction Designer

The current Augmented and alternative communication (AAC) devices, however, do not serve ASD users and their caregivers, educators, and therapists as well as they could. The same difficulties (e.g., high cost, unfriendly interface) recur in most of existing AAC devices. We spent three months clarifying users' needs, use context, and requirements of this autism community. According to gathered data, we developed a prototype of the assisted communication interface. We hope that how we utilized available technologies and pervasive hardware will make AAC devices more reachable to users.
